News Release

For Immediate Release:

Joan Rogers
Arlington Heights Community Concert Band

It has been a memorable year!
We have completed our first year with our new conductor, Mike Madonia. Learning how to perform with different conductors is one of the best things a musician can do. New music choices, and expectations pull a musician out of their comfort zone and force them to pay attention to their own style of playing. This attention to their performance is bound to lead to improvements in the quality.

The band performed three successful indoor concerts but unfortunately our holiday concert was cancelled due to a snowstorm. The safety of our musicians and audience will always take precedence. But we all missed performing the holiday favorites.

Another year of many generous donations from our supporters. Thank you! We are currently saving up for a larger gong. And I want to personally thank all our audience and band members who donated to the Elk Grove Township Food Pantry during our concert Food Drive at our February concert.  Approximately 280 pounds of food and non-perishable items was collected!  Those in need will never know your name, but they will be forever grateful that they were able to receive some help when they needed it most.

The band has begun the summer concert season with our participation in the Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade. We have four outdoor concerts scheduled and I hope you will be able to stop and hear the band perform some fun, summer music. Look to this website’s Calendar page for the full schedule. Hope to see you soon!
